Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest.
In the morning, you will be picked from Kigali and transfer southwards to Nyungwe Forest NP. En route stops at the King’s palace Nyanza may enrich you with knowledge about how ancient kings of Rwanda lived, while a stopover at Butare National Museum will give you a glimpse of Rwanda’s natural history. You will then proceed to Nyungwe Forest NP, reaching in the late afternoon. Overnight at Gisakura guest house (budget)/ Emeraude Kivu lodge (deluxe/luxury)/ One and Only Nyungwe house (high end)
Day 2: Chimp tracking and afternoon Canopy walk
In the morning, you will be transferred to the park headquarters at Uwinka for briefing and proceed to track chimps. The time one takes to find these primates is not specific and depends on one’s luck and the movement of these animals on a particular day. Once you catch up with them, you will be allowed a maximum of 1hr to observe and take photos before returning to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk to catch the spectacular views of the forest from high above and later return to your lodge. Overnight at day 1
Day 3: Colobus monkey tracking/ visit the tea plantations and Transfer back to Kigali
In the morning, you will go for Angola colobus monkey tracking near Gisakura and later return to set off back to Kigali with a relaxed drive, reaching Kigali in the evening. Alternatively, you may visit the tea plantations around the forest before setting off back to Kigali. Proceed to Kigali for a drop off at the airport or hotel.
