Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Akagera NP
In the morning, you will be picked from your hotel in Kigali and drive to Akagera NP in the eastern part of the country. The Park is home to the big five and has experienced one of the greatest wildlife recoveries in the recent past. Herds of buffaloes, zebras and gazelles can be easily spotted on a game drive. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on L. Ihem. Overnight at Akagera game lodge (deluxe)/ Ruzizi Tented lodge (luxury)
Day 2: Game drives in Akagera NP and afternoon boat cruise
In the morning, you will drive to the northern section of the park
for a game drive to explore the park's biodiversity. You may look out for lions, hyenas, leopards while not avoiding sights of herds of buffaloes, elephants and several antelope species. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on L. Ihema to see schools of hippos and crocodiles as well as some water birds. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera game lodge (deluxe)/ Ruzizi Tented lodge (luxury)
Day 3. Transfer to Volcanoes national park (5hrs drive)
Early morning, you will set off a spectacular drive to Volcanoes national park via Kigali with stop overs for photography and lunch. Reach Volcanoes national park in the afternoon to relax at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura hotel (budget)/ Davinci lodge (deluxe)/ Five Volcanoes hotel/ Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco lodge (luxury).
Day 4. Gorilla tracking and afternoon cultural tour
In the morning, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for
briefing before proceeding to track gorillas. On return, you will transfer
back to your lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will go for a cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians’ village formerly known as Iby’wachu cultural village. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura hotel (budget)/ Davinci lodge (deluxe)/ Five Volcanoes hotel/ Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco lodge (luxury).
Day 5. Golden monkey tracking and transfer back to Kigali.
Early morning, you will go for briefing at the park headquarters and then proceed for golden monkey tracking. On return, transfer back to Kigali for drop off at your hotel or airport
