The drive time from kigali to Bwindi National Park is estimated to be 4 hours. Whereas it is an 8 to  9 hours scenic drive from Entebbe to Bwindi. Bwindi Forest is home to the highest population of gorillas in the world with over 400 mountain gorillas habituated for trekking. Gorilla families in Bwindi are split into four sectors (Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga and Ruhija) which make up the park. Uganda gorilla groups include Mubare, Habinyanja, Nkuringo, Rushegura, Nshongi, Bweza, Mishaya, Busingye, Christmas, Kutu, Katwe, Muyambi, Bitukura, Oruzogo, Mukiza, Kyaguliro, Mucungunzi and Rwigi gorilla family. Bikyingi and Bushaho gorilla families are still undergoing habituation process. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest requires one to buy a permit at $700 for foreign non residents, $600 for foreign residents and UGX 250,000 for East African citizens. The other activities to do in Bwindi forest include gorilla habituation experience done in Rushaga sector at $1500 allowing you to spend four hours with the wild gorillas. You can also visit the batwa communities for a cultural experience. Nature/forest walking is also a not miss for anyone visiting Bwindi forest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

After breakfast transfer southwestwards to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park, with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed through a breath-taking scenic view popularly known as the "Switzerland of Africa" to the park.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Cultural Walk

3 Days uganda gorilla safariAfter an early breakfast proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers about the do's and don'ts while with the gorillas. Proceed for the memorable adventure penetrating the impenetrable forest in search for the gentle giants. This may take 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the animals. You will be allowed to spend at least an hour enjoying the gorilla's play, feed or rest while taking  photographs. In the evening, you may go for a cultural walk in the nearby Batwa (Pygmies) community, where you will be entertained and given tales of their unique culture.

Day 3: Transfer to Kampala.

Take your breakfast and embark on your journey back to Kampala with a stop-over at the equator for photography. Lunch en-route reaching late in the afternoon at your hotel for dinner and overnight or transfer straight to the airport for your departure flight.
